Hoops
Hoops (originally known as Pink Kitty) is one of the first main characters (publicly) of hoops&yoyo. Originally debuting in 2001 with the "Happy 4th of July!" e-card, he is the "leader" of the trio that consists of Yoyo, Piddles and himself. He is voiced by Mike Adair.
Appearance
Hoops is a big-headed pink cat with large pointy ears, large eyes with small black pupils, a large black oval-shaped nose, and a long tail that curves upward at the end.
Personality
Official biography: The eternal optimist. Got a problem? He's got 15 ways to solve it. He just knows everything will work out great in the end--but it may take a few off-the-wall twists and turns to get there.[1]
Relationships
Yoyo
Yoyo is Hoops' best friend, since the two often appear in the e-cards together. He fools around and tell jokes with him. The two have a brotherly relationship, as shown in "The Making Of Your Birthday Card!", where Yoyo purposefully messes up the e-card and Hoops gets annoyed by it. Hoops can sometimes be rude or apathetic to Yoyo, as shown in the "Friends Rock!" book, where he pulls pranks or cause trouble on him. In "Coffee Shots: Ep 1", Hoops laughs at Yoyo because he forgot to go to a meeting. In the "Walking Along" song, Hoops jokingly says that the song is better because Yoyo is gone.
Piddles
Although not as much as Yoyo, Hoops and Piddles are also great friends. In the Hallway "How are ya?" manners animation, when the "right" portion is played, Hoops and Piddles have a typical friendly "how are you" conversation. In the Bongo Christmas music video, Hoops wanted to join Piddles, along with Yoyo to sing and dance with him. Despite being in good terms. Hoops can be sometimes either annoyed by or make fun of Piddles. In the same manners animation as previously mentioned, when the "wrong" portion is played, Hoops walks away and ignores Piddles when she was about to answer him. Almost throughout the Haunted Halloween special, he and Yoyo won't take Piddles seriously, or are sometimes very mean to her. When Hoops and Yoyo discuss their plans to "split up" in Haunted Halloween, Piddles didn't agree with Hoops' plan, which causes the duo to make fun of her. And in a Coffee Run cutscene, he gets annoyed by Piddles.
Trivia
- The reason why Hoops' color changed to a more pink-like tone was because of how the RGB purple color Bob used for his original Pink Kitty design in the animations was not printable in terms of the CMYK colors that are used in printers
- According to the July 2005 newsletter, Hoops seems to like the cartoon Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends.
- He also likes the soda Royal Crown Cola.
- Hoops doesn't like apples. Some of the printable calendars show renders of Hoops looking unhappy with an apple. In the "Halloween Haul" e-card, Hoops complains about getting an apple.
