Career

Hallmark

Bob Holt has worked on many things at Hallmark, mostly comedy projects such as Shoebox cards. When Holt became interested in animation, he began to do e-cards for Hallmark.com. He applied for a job in that department by doing a series of very short animations of a unlucky boy, and submitting them to the bosses. During this period, on his own time, Bob created "The Adventures of Green Bunny" as a short test animation. Green Bunny would later be recolored magenta and modified to look like a cat, named Pink Kitty, and used in Happy 4th of July!, the first ever E-Card to feature the character. This would over time evolve into hoops&yoyo, as the characters were given names and voices, with Bob Holt voicing Yoyo, the green rabbit, and Mike Adair voicing Hoops, the pink kitty.

Early on, the project was not well supported, and it was a constant uphill battle for Holt to get the characters off the ground. Holt had several ideas for hoops&yoyo projects, however their bosses requested that they stop submitting ideas, as "they already had enough". Over time, however, the brand proved successful, as the characters quickly rose in popularity, and according to Bob "made them millions of dollars". Holt would go on to help write hoops&yoyo Ruin Christmas, however did not contribute to the writing of hoops&yoyo's Haunted Halloween.

Holt was fired from Hallmark in 2015. No reason was given other than that hoops&yoyo did not fit into the "humor" that Hallmark wanted.

Post-Hallmark work

Bob Holt has gone on to both write and illustrate several children's books, including "Let's Taco About How Great You Are" and "The Red Jacket". He has also created animated gifs for mobile apps, physical greeting cards, and his own webcomic, called Sweet and Sour Pork which as a self described "dark humor" edge to it. Holt continues to work on projects independently to this day.
