All you need to know about uploading images, editing images, formatting images.

NOTICE:Spot how many rules this image is breaking!

One of hoops&yoyo wiki's primary goals is accurate documentation and preservation of lost content. the quality and formatting of user-submitted images. Whenever possible, images should be screenshots, official clip art images, low quality official images, being lost media, comparison images. This means that they must not be resized, filtered, watermarked, or compressed in any way, with very few exceptions.

Guidelines

No JPEGs.

Please take your screenshots using PNG format. Don't try to convert JPEGs to PNGs. This only serves to make the file much larger and has zero impact on image quality. Exception: If a image, derived from archived snapshot from a official site, or a graphic was stored in that way, you can write a summary while uploading a image, so the editors will know the image was stored in that way.

If getting a PNG screenshot is not currently available at the moment, upload the original JPEG and mark it with the {{replaceimage}} template.

Make sure the image is clean

No watermarks and no texts on screen.

    • For image comparisons, use the same resolutions as you trimmed either the first image or the secondary image and group them, so it should look like this:

Use descriptive filenames.

Include either the simple naming or the abbreviated title of the page. This helps make files easier to identify, and prevents future filename conflicts.

    • Example: An image from Coffee_Run should be called "CoffeeRunObject.png" or "Coffeerunobject.png", not "Object.png".
    • Additionally, evict adding too much spaces on a filename. 3 spaces are enough.
      • Example: "Coffee run object balloon hyy.png",

The correct usage is: "Coffeerun object balloon.png"

Avoid large images.

Really large images can fail to generate thumbnails. This translates to images larger than 10000x10000, 20000x5000, etc.

This commonly happens with GIFs, While large gifs are allowed, gifs that are larger than 12.5MP (that is, height x width x frames being larger than 12,500,000) will not animate unless opened. Try to limit gifs to below this limit where possible. if you're extracted a GIF featuring a animation ripped from the Flash's SWF file, in Adobe Animate or Flash 8, export the pixels to: "150px"

This wiki isn't for fan made or made up stuff. Only make fan made images for your user Page only. Mockups or restorations of unused content are allowed as long as they are H&YY related.

Taking Screenshots with Flash

Take screenshots using an Flash Player (Standalone). You can easily find it on Internet Archive. It's reccomended to use Flash Player (32 bits). Do not take screenshots with the menu, only the main window that is displaying the animation.

Scans

Only upload scans if they came from a merchandise product, for example, scanning the sticker from Non-Stick Birthday card.

Personal Images

While images intended to appear on your personal user page are not subject to the same quality guidelines as those appearing in articles, they must still be named and tagged appropriately.

Your username must be added to the filename. "Your User-Photo.jpg" is acceptable, "Photo.jpg" is not.

Images should be of a reasonable file size.
