When Bob Holt was tasked with creating a [[Happy 4th of July eCard|4th of July e-card]] using only a firecracker. He started to design a green bunny character based on the one he created at home. Later on, he took the character and turned it into [[Hoops]]. Eventually, Hoops needed a companion, and this character would be redesigned into Yoyo.

==Publication==
This initially occurred when sillypotato345 messaged Bob Holt on Facebook to inquire about the creation of the green bunny character. Holt responded that he had drawn it around 2000-2001. Earlier, he had mentioned struggling to convert the SWF file to another format, but he eventually succeeded in converting it successfully.

On July 9, 2023, a user by the name of CloudyEggs uploaded the Flash file onto [https://archive.org/ The Internet Archive].

Two Green Bunnies are shown simultaneously: one is standing, slightly gyrating, twitching its nose, and blinking, while the other walks over to a car and starts to drive off in it.

*Green Bunny's appearance is quite different from that of the final Yoyo design. Yoyo has more saturated fur, larger and rounder eyes with visible sclera, and significantly longer ears, his nose also appears completely elliptical. In contrast, Green Bunny's fur is more lime-colored, and he has a rectangular head, shorter ears, a wider smile, a smaller body, and a slightly lumpy nose. From the side profile, Green Bunny also has a noticeable snout, which gives him a more authentic rabbit-like appearance.

==Downfall==
The downfall of e-cards happened when every e-card Flash file was replaced by .webm files in 2015. This led to a small backlash as the interactive e-cards were gone. Another downfall was the introduction of the Hallmark Video Cards in 2021 after the e-card service being shut down on the same year, which is also getting discontinued on August 30th, of 2024.

On April 1st, 2021, people who visited the Hallmark eCard website were met with this notice:

"April 30, 2021 will be the last date of Hallmark eCards service. More lines appear along [[Parry Gripp]] singing "you remembered by birthday!," and an box of donuts falls from the sky along with [[Parry]] singing "you bought me an donut." The Cat Screensaver is a [[screensaver]] that was available for free on the [[Hoops&yoyo|Hoops and Yoyo]] website as an interactive screensaver. It was a swf file simply named Cat.swf packaged in a .exe file for Windows computers.

== Details ==
When launched, the SWF file in the screensaver plays a few looped and reversed GIFs of two cats playing around with plush versions of [[Hoops]] and [[Yoyo]]. The first GIF is a cat peeking out from behind a doorway and putting its paw on a plush Hoops. The second GIF is the cat biting a plush Yoyo's ear and holding it with its four legs before batting it away. The third GIF has the cat pushing away plush Hoops. The fourth features someone putting a plush Hoops and then a plush Yoyo in the face of the cat while it lays down.

The entire screensaver has "hoopsandyoyo.com" in white text at the bottom left corner of the file and a loop of a track using various generic guitar samples from the album "New World Order journey #2" by Sounds Good.

Hoops&Yoyo is a franchise starring a [[Hoops|pink cat]], a [[Yoyo|green bunny]] and a [[Piddles|blue critter]]. These characters are the stars of the [[E-Cards]], [[Littlelife]], [[Homepages]], [[Podwalkin']], [[Manners]], [[The Studio]] and [[Games|games]] of the franchise.

Originally a franchise made by [[Hallmark Cards]], all these characters were made by [[Bob Holt]]. He made [[Yoyo]] as a character first, but he changed him to [[Hoops]], since [[Happy_4th_of_July_eCard|a certain 4th of July e-card]] was in production.

These were popular since the 2000's and 2010's, since they were mascots of [[Hallmark]]. Their declines were in 2015, by [[Bob Holt]] being fired, because it didn't fit the "humor" that Hallmark wanted.

The franchise was first created in 2000/2001, a small test animation named [[The Adventures Of The Green Bunny]], Bob really liked the [[Yoyo|green bunny]] that he repurposed for [[Yoyo]].

Bob Holt was challenged to create a 4th of July e-card animation using only a firecracker. [[Bob Holt|Bob]] started with a little green bunny he had already created at home; then the green bunny transforms into [[Hoops]], a pink kitty with enormous eyes and an unusually large head plunked on an unusually small body. When [[Hoops]] eventually needed a pal, the original green bunny came back to life as [[Yoyo]].

And hoops&yoyo debuted in 2001 on a [[Happy 4th of July!|Fourth of July e-card]] on Hallmark.com. They were born of the mind of Hallmark artist and voice actor, [[Bob Holt]].

Eventually, fellow artist and voice actor, [[Mike Adair]] began working with [[Bob Holt]] to develop the characters’ personalities.

One of the first ever E-Card's that features speaking, was [[What Friends Say]] E-Card, Hoops being voiced by [[Mike Adair]], which began the voice acting.

Hoops&Yoyo is a franchise starring a [[Hoops|pink cat]], a [[Yoyo|green bunny]] and a [[Piddles|blue critter]]. These characters are the stars of the [[E-Cards]], [[Littlelife]], [[Homepages]], [[Podwalkin']], [[Manners]], [[The Studio]] and [[Games|games]] of the franchise.

Originally a franchise made by [[Hallmark Cards]], all these characters were made by [[Bob Holt]]. He made [[Yoyo]] as a character first, but he changed him to [[Hoops]], since [[Happy_4th_of_July_eCard|a certain 4th of July e-card]] was in production.

Bob Holt was challenged to create a 4th of July e-card animation using only a firecracker. [[Bob Holt|Bob]] started with a little green bunny he had already created at home; then the green bunny transforms into [[Hoops]], a pink kitty with enormous eyes and an unusually large head plunked on an unusually small body. When [[Hoops]] eventually needed a pal, the original green bunny came back to life as [[Yoyo]].

And hoops&yoyo debuted in 2001 on a [[Happy 4th of July!|Fourth of July e-card]] on Hallmark.com. They were born of the mind of Hallmark artist and voice actor, [[Bob Holt]].

Eventually, fellow artist and voice actor, [[Mike Adair]] began working with [[Bob Holt]] to develop the characters’ personalities.

Texts are seen appearing out of nowhere, reading "Niiiice". [[Hoops]] and [[Yoyo]] flies away when the "i" letter hit them. Texts appear along [[Parry Gripp]] singing "You remembered by birthday!", and an box of donuts falls from the sky along with [[Parry]] singing "You bought me an donut", [[Hoops]], [[Yoyo]] and [[Piddles]] appears inside of the box, saying "Ooh that's it says right there" "That's we do", text with [[Parry]] singing "You're so, Niiiiiiice", [[Hoops]] praise [[Piddles]] and thanks, everyone dances.

Letters start appearing, making [[Hoops]] and [[Yoyo]] bouncing, [[Hoops]] grabs the letter "I" and [[Yoyo]] grabs the letter "U" falling from the sky, [[Piddles]] is seen going floating back to the ground, grabbing the heart, [[Parry]] sings we sit back when you're lonely, [[Hoops]] says "We do!"
